About eRAD

eRAD is a comprehensive web-based radiation records management system designed to support organisations in maintaining accurate, compliant, and auditable radiation records across single or multiple sites.

The platform provides a centralised solution for managing radioactive substances, disposals, lasers, X-ray equipment, sealed sources, monitoring equipment, training records, and radiation risk assessments. By replacing paper-based and spreadsheet-driven processes, eRAD simplifies record keeping while improving visibility, reporting, and regulatory compliance.

Unsealed Radioactive Substances

eRAD provides complete lifecycle management of unsealed radioactive substances, from ordering and receipt through to use, storage, transfer, and disposal.

The system supports detailed stock tracking, including aliquoting and dilution through parent-child stock relationships, temporary storage locations such as refrigerators and fume cupboards, and a wide range of disposal routes. Activity, volume, and radioactive decay calculations are performed automatically, reducing administrative effort and improving record accuracy.

Comprehensive reporting tools enable users to review holdings, usage, and disposals by laboratory, department, isotope, site, or disposal route. Disposal containers can be tracked individually and grouped into consignments for recording off-site disposal activities.

Lasers and X-ray Equipment

eRAD includes dedicated inventories for laser and X-ray equipment, providing a central record of Class 1-4 lasers and X-ray sources. The system supports accurate asset management, compliance monitoring, and reporting across multiple locations.

Sealed Sources and Monitoring Equipment

The system maintains inventories of sealed radioactive sources and radiation monitoring equipment, including contamination monitors, dose-rate meters, and scintillation detectors. This ensures that critical radiation protection assets are accurately recorded and readily available for inspection and audit purposes.

Training Records

eRAD includes workflow-driven training management tools for recording, monitoring, and reporting radiation worker training. Training records can be linked to institutional learning platforms, including Moodle, where required.

Risk Assessments

Integrated risk assessment workflows allow organisations to create, review, approve, and maintain assessments relating to radioactive substances, lasers, and X-ray equipment. By linking risk assessments directly to radiation inventories and training records, eRAD provides a unified approach to radiation safety management.

Reporting and Compliance

eRAD has been designed to support the operational and regulatory requirements of universities, research institutes, healthcare organisations, and other facilities working with radiation sources. Extensive reporting capabilities provide rapid access to information required for audits, inspections, management reporting, and compliance monitoring.
